We are a company that offers personalized facilities, where the only guests are your family and a small group of fishermen. This ensures excellent quality service.

Because we are located next to the Amarillo hot springs, only 30 kilometers from Chaitén, we are in a position to provide truly replenishing thermal baths at the end of each day Fly-fishing at the Lago Yelcho rivers and lakes in the region, catarafts, trekking, horseback riding, and photo safaris are just some of the activities we provide for guests who are interested in adventure and who are eager to discover the natural wonders of this Austral hideaway. We provide local dishes and organic homegrown vegetables.

We live right in the middle of one of the most pristine regions of our country, the green Patagonia, surrounded by the Pumalin Sanctuary, which has beautiful paths and must-see places. Not far from our facilities there are two glaciers of immense beauty that are easily accessible. We have lakes and rivers that are world-famous for their excellent fly-fishing and our horseback trails take us up the Michinmahuida river and glacier.

Luckily, our facilities were not damaged by the Chaitén volcano eruption. We offer fishing tours to the Yelcho Lake and surrounding areas. Our accommodations include a carpeted suite (6 x 7 meters) with a King-sized bed and two twin-sized beds, a private bathroom, a thermal spring hot tub .

Getting Here:
Pumalin Explorer is located 30 kilometers from Chaitén and 4.3 kilometers from the Amarillo juncture, adjacent to Pumalin Park. Also, Pumalin Explorer is 15 kilometers from Lake Yelcho and 4 kilometers from the Michinmahuida glacier.

By sea: from Puerto Montt: Don Baldo, Pincoya or Mailen ferry service (contact Naviera Austral www.navieraustral.cl). For Vehicle loading, contact Carlos Ulloa culloa@navieraustral.cl for reservations.

By land: access through Futaleufú border crossing, 125 kilometers from our facilities.

By air: the newly opened Santa Barbara airport provides access for small airplanes that cover the Puerto Montt- Chaitén route (www.aerocord.cl tel#: 65-262300 and Aero Regional aeroregional@surnet.cl tel#:65- 259131.

When you reserve our five-day, six-night package, we include round trip travel accommodations from Puerto Montt to Chaitén. This service is not included for shorter stay periods. Our travel and service accommodations begin upon arrival at the Santa Barbara airport (or at the Chaitén pier) for shorter stays. Regardless of how you get here (land or sea), we coordinate your arrival.

Accommodations
Pumalin Explorer’s plot 34 is adjacent to Vuelta y Vuelta River and the Amarillo hot springs in Chaitén off the Austral Highway in the tenth region of Chile. Since it is located near the southern entrance to Pumalin Park, we have oriented the stay around fly-fishing, trekking, horse back riding and other outdoor activities. We operate throughout the Pumalin Park area, with its beautiful rivers and lakes.

In this initial phase, we count with a carpeted suite (42 square meters) that has a private bathroom, and accommodates a party of 2 fishermen or a group of four friends.

Our services are 100% personalized. We have thermal baths . We also count with a catarraft for fly-fishing and we have considerable expertise and knowledge with respect to the rivers and lakes in the area.

Our regional cuisine includes fresh meats from the surrounding areas (as well as from Futaleufú), organic vegetables from greenhouses operating in the town of Amarillo (Pumalin Park) as well as our own cheeses and honey, which are also often produced by locals in the Michinmahuida River area.
We also include picnic lunch boxes for fly-fishing or trekking, as well as breakfast and dinner at our home base facility. Dinner includes homemade wine.
